SCOTLAND OF THE EAST  :

DAY-1

Arrive Guwahati- Shillong ( 100 kms/ approx.4 hours)

Arrive in Guwahati airport or station,meet and greeted by EITT staff. Then drive immediately to Shillong, lunch enroute in a nice restaurant. Shillong is the capital of Meghalaya located in an altitude of 1496 meter.The name Meghalaya,one of the most beautiful hill stations of the North East itself means the “House of the Clouds.” Shillong is named after the local deity and its creator U BLEI Shyllong, who is believed to have resided on the Shillong peak.

Check in to a nice city hotel on arrival. Dinner & overnight.

DAY-2

(CHERRAPUNJI, 56 KMS/ APPROX.2 HOURS)

After an early breakfast, drive to Cherrapunji. Cherrapunji is known as the rainiest rain belt of the world and at the same time this place is famous for its limestone,coal caves & orange honey. Check in a nicely located hotel on arrival and after lunch(depending on the time the sight seeing can be before lunch as well) visit Khrem falls, Mawsmai cave,the illuminated cave where one can have a real feel of caving. Interesting one can see myriads of stalagmites & stalactites in all lover the wall of the cave. Then visit Seven Sister’s falls, Thangkharang park and Nohkalikai falls, one of the most beautiful and the highest waterfall in Meghalaya. Back to the hotel. Dinner & overnight.

DAY-3

(Cherrapunji- Double decker root bridge and Khasi village)

Today after breakfast, we drive then we trek to see the living root bridge including the double decker living root bridge which can be found only in Cherrapunji in all over the world. We will be trekking there and enroute visit a khasi village and enjoy there culture, tradition, cuisine etc. Back to the hotel .Dinner & overnight.st.

DAY-4

(Shillong city tour)—-

After breakfast, drive immediately back to Shillong and on the way visit the Elephanta falls located in the outskirts of Shillong, once the summer station of the British Raj. Elephant Falls – 12 kms on the outskirts of the city, the mountain stream descends through two successive falls set in dells of fern-covered rocks, Shillong peak – an ideal picnic spot, 1965 metres above sea level which offers a panoramic view of Shillong, Ward’s Lake which is a century old picturesque lake located in the heart of the city. Evening stroll around Police Bazaar, Shillong’s prime location where the wares on sale range from electronics to traditional handicraft, modern clothing to handloom items, visit Burra bazaar and see Khasi (local tribe) ladies selling vegetables and traditional spices etc. Overnight at the hotel.

DAY-5

Today after breakfast drive back roughly for three hours to Guwahati. Lunch on the way and once arrived check in to a nice city hotel. Dinner & overnight.

DAY-6

Once you finish with breakfast,drive straight to Kamakhya Temple, a very active and lively temple of Mother Goddess located at the Nilachal Hillock. The temple is famous for its tantric rites and very colourful because of the abundance of devotees. One can have a very good view of the city from the top. Then visit commonwealth war grave cemetery of the 2nd World War , visit ‘Kalakshetra’, a place where Assamese history and culture is depicted in a sprawling enclosure. Return to hotel. Lunch in the hotel and transfer to airport to catch your flight or continue your tour with EITT.
